NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the DENMAN COMMUNITY HOUSING SOCIETY

Join us on Thursday June 11, 2026 at 7 pm for Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Denman Community Housing Society for the following purposes:
1. to accept the minutes of the Annual General Meeting of June 12, 2025;
2. to accept the audited Financial Statements and the report of the Auditor for the year ended December 31, 2025.
3. to appoint Manning Elliott as auditor for the Society;
4. to receive the report from the Board Chair on behalf of the Directors;
5. to add a new bylaw under Section 4 Election or Appointment of Directors, as follows: Nominations will not be accepted from the floor at the Annual General Meeting. Nominations must be submitted to the Board in advance of the AGM, in accordance with the timeline and process stipulated by the Board. This new bylaw article will be inserted immediately prior to Bylaw 4.3 and the numbering of other articles in section 4 will be adjusted accordingly.
Rationale: All members have to vote on any changes to By-laws. All Societies must comply with their own Bylaws. If the Bylaws state that nominations must be submitted before the AGM, then nominations from the floor are not allowed. This motion will ensure a fair and consistent election process by allowing for proper vetting and notification of candidates. This motion removes the risk that there will be a nomination for someone unknown to the Board and/or not deemed to have a values base, background and and/or skill set that fits with the Board’s values, gaps and/or needs.
6. to elect Directors.
The meeting package, including the report from the board chair and the Auditor and the audited financial statements, will be distributed to all the members at the meeting and will be available on the website 3 days prior to the AGM.
Registration will open at 6:30, come and enjoy some refreshments and catch up on our work over the last year.
AGM 2026 Documents:
Sue Hammell’s home on Piercy was the only place to be during the early evening on Saturday, May 9th. This was the scene of the Denman Community Housing Society House of Scarves event. The 50 or so guests were greeted at the door with a warm welcome, a glass of wine and an invitation to stroll the Grand Hall that featured dozens of colourful scarves meticulously hung between the massive posts. All were offered for purchase. A table of jewelry featured an eclectic range of items; all for sale as well.
